Holy Family Church opens
150th Jubilee Year
On Sunday 8th February 2026, Holy Family Church, Aughrim Street, joyfully opened its 150th Jubilee Year with a moving Mass presided by Bishop Paul Dempsey, Auxiliary Bishop of Dublin. The celebration brought together parishioners, our Italian and Romanian Greek-Catholic Communities, and many friends, neighbours and representatives of the wider local community – a living expression of our Jubilee motto: Rooted in Community, Growing in Faith.
Cardinal Paul Cullen blessed the foundation stone of the Church of the Holy Family in April 1874. The first Mass was celebrated on the 8th of December 1876. It was a Chapel of Ease to St Paul’s, Arran Quay. On the 18th of May 1893 it was constituted a parish by Archbishop William Walsh.
Aughrim Street is also home to the Italian Catholic Community in Dublin and to the Romanian Greek-Catholic Community in Dublin.
